Delhi elections: AAP wins in a landslide as BJP, Congress Collapse

Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party made a stunning comeback Tuesday, winning an unprecedented nine-tenths majority of 67 in the 70-seat Delhi assembly and 54.3 per cent of the total votes.
The BJP’s high-decibel campaign, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah, ended in a whimper as the party was handed its worst drubbing in recent times, down to three from 31 seats in 2013. BJP’s chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi lost her seat along with several party veterans.
Kejriwal will be sworn in as chief minister for a second time on February 14 at the Ramlila Maidan after a victory roadshow, AAP leaders said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the first to call and congratulate him, promising cooperation from the Centre.
Addressing a crowd of jubilant volunteers outside the AAP office in East Patel Nagar, Kejriwal said: “Inside there is a fear. It is really scary, the majority that the people have given us… People of Delhi have done something really wonderful. This is the people’s win, truth’s win. We had nothing. Neither did we have money, nor did we have means. But like I always say, if you walk on the path of truth, the world and the universe conspire to help you.”
"I have one request to make to all volunteers, to all MLAs, to the entire party. Don’t bring in even a little arrogance. The state of the Congress today, the state of the BJP today, is because of their arrogance. If we become arrogant, people will teach us the same lesson in five years. We cannot be arrogant at all. Fold your hands, and serve the people of Delhi," he said.
